Why “I Will Start Monday” Is an Accountability Problem, Not a Motivation Problem

We’ve all said it... I’ll start Monday.

The workout. The morning routine. The business idea. Eating better. Writing the thing. Making the call. Finally doing whatever we’ve been telling ourselves we’re going to do.

Monday feels clean. Monday feels organized. Monday somehow feels more official than starting at 2:17 on a Thursday afternoon. But here’s what I’ve learned after years of coaching women: most of the time, you don’t need more motivation. You already want the thing. You already know what to do. What you’re missing is accountability to actually begin.

And accountability doesn’t have to be complicated. Start ridiculously small today. Walk for ten minutes instead of waiting for the perfect hour-long workout. Write the first paragraph instead of planning the entire project. Send the email. Book the appointment. Put your phone away for 30 minutes. Do one thing that gives you evidence that you’ve started.

Then tell someone. Put it on your calendar. Ask a friend to check in. Join a community. Hire the coach. Create something outside of your own head that makes the commitment real. Because every time you tell yourself “Monday,” you’re giving yourself permission to do nothing today.

You don't need a new week. You need a first move.

So, what can you do today that makes Monday irrelevant?

Start there.
