Group Coaching vs. Private Coaching — Which Support Model Helps You Move Faster?
Sep 13, 2026
Choosing the right kind of coaching isn't about which one is better. It's about knowing what kind of support you need in the season you're actually in.
I get asked about the difference between group coaching and private coaching a lot, and I understand why. If you're investing your time, energy and money into coaching, you want to know which option is actually going to help you move forward faster.
The answer isn't as simple as one being better than the other.
I've coached women privately, led groups and masterminds, and sat on the other side as a client in both. What I've learned is that the magic isn't necessarily in the format. It's in finding the environment that makes it harder for you to stay stuck.
Private coaching gives you space that is completely yours. Your goals. Your patterns. Your blind spots. Your business, relationships, health, confidence or whatever is taking up the most space in your head that week. There is nowhere to hide, which can be incredibly powerful when you know you're ready for focused accountability and someone willing to challenge you individually. A lot of my clients also like to say I am someone that is for them, that they have in their back pocket to walk through whats on their mind.
Group coaching gives you something different. You get accountability, but you also get perspective. Someone asks a question you didn't know you needed to ask. Another woman says something you've been thinking but haven't been able to put into words. You watch someone take a risk, make a decision or finally do the thing she's been circling, and suddenly your own next step feels a little more possible.
I think we underestimate how much the right room can change us.
There have been seasons in my life where I needed someone focused entirely on me. There have been other seasons where what moved me forward wasn't another one-on-one conversation. It was being surrounded by women who were also willing to grow, try things, change their minds and actually do something with what they were learning.
So which helps you move faster?
If you need highly personalized strategy, deeper individual accountability or support working through something specific, private coaching may be exactly what you need. If you need community, momentum, new perspectives and the energy that comes from growing alongside other women, group coaching can be incredibly powerful.
And sometimes the answer is both.
What matters most is that you stop collecting information and start putting yourself somewhere that creates movement.
Because whether it's one person across from you or a room full of women beside you, the best coaching should do the same thing...Help you get clear, stop circling and take the next step.
